Acne Facts


Acne affects people of all ages and all races. Here are a few quick facts about Acne

:: Acne abrasions are usually found on the face but can also occur on the neck, shoulders, chest, scalp, back, inner ear, arms and legs.

:: Close to 100% of those aged 12-17 have had at least an occasional breakout of blackheads, whiteheads or pimples.

:: Acne affects both young men and women although the percentage of young men with acne is higher.

:: Young men are less likely to visit a dermatologist for their acne.

:: Young and old women alike can have acne flair-ups due to hormonal changes such as their menstrual cycle.

:: 35% of teenagers have had acne severe enough to require some form of treatment from a medical professional.

:: In some cases Acne can persist into people's thirties and forties.

:: One's diet does not effect their Acne. Greasy foods such as hamburgers and French fries and sugary foods such as soda, candy and chocolate do not play a role in Acne. Although a healthy diet is still recommended for general health.
